The amount of material here will grow as time passes and things get done. The links section will grow always when I find something useful and interesting. The final work will concentrate on design in entertainment and the practical work in my own case study. The project will be roughly divided into: 1) Gathering of general info on entertainment industry. The goal is to gather short paper on the design and different tasks involved in the entertainment business. Throughout the work I will concentrate mostly on computer gaming and advertising as movie effect houses are mostly located overseas. 2) Study the criteria and methods used in fictional designs How do we recognize an attack space ship? There is a lot of visual language and rules that help guide the audience. Still many great works are very innovative and fresh. What are the factors that help us identify things and what makes them believable? Which rules can be pushed and and which not? How is the consumer related to the process? Could there be something to learn from product design processes when making decisions in fictional worlds. How do you judge fictional concept design? Through interviews and research I am trying to find answers to these questions. 3) Create my own visualization of a story In a case study I will get my hands dirty and create a vision of a science fiction story. I will be concentrating on a few different subjects that will be studied more carefully. In addition I will be creating a 2-3 minute animation to show the general feeling of the idea. The work will be presented with drawings, 3D renderings and animation. The tools I use are Rhinoceros 3d and 3D Studio Max. 4) These pages These pages are one important part of the project. I try to post here material as it is gathered or created. I believe that during the process there will be interesting things to share.
